It’s been a busy year for the Friends of Oakland Parks and Recreation: raising money for youth scholarships, planting trees in West Oakland, and supporting numerous community groups through our fiscal account program.

But the continued success of Friends’ programs depends on your help. Friends needs increased financial resources to increase the scope of our youth scholarship program, restore our grants program for the City’s recreation centers, and push towards the goal of creating the Maintenance Trust, an essential tool for preserving and beautifying Oakland’s parks.

The continued vitality of our parks and recreation centers depends on the contributions of all of us.

Please think of the Friends of Oakland Parks and Recreation as you make your year-end giving decisions.

Please join the Friends of Oakland Parks and Recreation for an afternoon of fall fun! Pumpkins for sale, Timbuk2 bags will be auctioned off,  pies and BBQ lunchs will be sold, and there will be plenty of games (including a bouncy-house) for kids of all ages! Sunday, October 16, noon – 4pm; at Oakland’s Dimond Park. Bring your family; bring your friends to the Fall Harvest Festival!

Admission is free and all funds raised at the event go directly to Friends’ Oakland Youth Scholarship program. The program benefits kids from financially stressed families all across Oakland; enabling them to participate in OPR recreation centers activities and program.
