To Our Parks Community,
It has been a joyful week of sharing appreciation with all those who made Spring for Parks a success last Thursday night. I am thrilled to tell you that the event raised more than $90,000 for Town Camp and Oakland youth!
All of you — our parks community — require a special thank you. Months ago, we heard you say that your hearts were invested in helping Oakland’s kids reconnect this summer. You followed through and achieved a Town Camp fundraising result 2.5x larger than our last event pre-COVID in 2019!
This year’s inspiring program featured Town Camp kids and staff, a keynote from Rue Mapp of Outdoor Afro, an enthralling performance by Goapele and shout outs from Mayor Schaaf and A’s President Dave Kaval. We ended the night with the surprise announcement of $20,000 of funding for the Town Camp Carnival in August!
