State Grants Deliver $17 Million For Oakland Parks

Two projects supported by the Oakland Parks and Recreation Foundation have received nearly $17 million for improvements at Lincoln Square Park in Chinatown and Verdese Carter Park in East Oakland!

These funds are part of $548.3 million in grant funding announced by California State Parks to deliver new parks to more than 100 communities and advance California’s “Outdoors for All” initiative.

“Too many Californians today lack access to parks and open space in their own neighborhoods,” said Governor Gavin Newsom. “This historic investment will…[ensure] more Californians from all walks of life can reap the benefits for our hearts, minds and bodies for generations to come.”

We send hearty congratulations to our partners at the City of Oakland, The Trust for Public Land, the Friends of Lincoln Square Park and the Police Activities League! Teamwork and alignment produced these wins!

Thank you to our parks community for your ongoing support. Today we can celebrate nearly $17 million in new parks investment in Oakland that would not have happened without you!
